# Broker Compatibility

Broker conditions affect both backtests and live trading. Check the broker setup before comparing results or moving settings to live use.

## Compatibility Checklist[](#compatibility-checklist "Direct link to Compatibility Checklist")

* Symbol names match the preset or are mapped intentionally.
* Contract size, tick value, and minimum lot size are understood.
* Spread is realistic for the trading session.
* Commission is included when relevant.
* Stop level and freeze level do not block expected orders.
* The broker permits Expert Advisors and automated trading.
* Execution quality is acceptable during the intended session.

## Common Differences[](#common-differences "Direct link to Common Differences")

Index, gold, and CFD symbols often differ by broker. Two brokers can use the same display name while using different contract specifications. Always verify the symbol specification inside MT4.

## Practical Rule[](#practical-rule "Direct link to Practical Rule")

Treat each broker, symbol, and timeframe as its own setup until it has been tested.
