# Multi-Timeframe Settings

This page explains how BananaEA can separate the chart timeframe you view from the timeframe used by a configured strategy or preset.

## What This Means[](#what-this-means "Direct link to What This Means")

Some presets are designed for a specific strategy timeframe, such as M5 or H1. Depending on the EA settings, you may be able to attach the EA to one chart while the strategy logic refers to a configured timeframe.

## Why It Matters[](#why-it-matters "Direct link to Why It Matters")

This can help when:

* You want to keep your workspace simpler.
* You are monitoring several symbols or presets.
* You want the chart display timeframe to be different from the strategy timeframe.
* You are checking whether the loaded `.set` file matches the intended symbol and timeframe.

## User Checks[](#user-checks "Direct link to User Checks")

Before enabling automated trading:

1. Confirm the preset name matches the symbol and timeframe you intend to trade.
2. Check the EA inputs for any timeframe-related setting.
3. Confirm the Experts tab does not show a mismatch or setup warning.
4. Run Strategy Tester or demo testing before live use.

If you are unsure, use the chart timeframe that matches the preset name.
