What is the AIMS Box Indicator and what does it do?

The AIMS Box Indicator automates market structure identification by drawing dynamic consolidation boxes between validated swing high and swing low fractals. It categorizes price action into structured consolidation (Grey Zone) and flags systematic Setup 1 and Setup 2 continuation breakout opportunities.

What is Setup 1 and why is it called the Wave 4 Box?

Setup 1 is the primary AIMS trend continuation pattern. In Elliott Wave and Chaos theory, strong impulse Wave 3 is followed by a consolidation pause (Wave 4) before continuing into Wave 5. AIMS Box identifies this exact structural pause and signals when price is ready to break out in the dominant trend direction.

Why does the indicator display BLOCKED?

The indicator incorporates an automated ATR Box Height filter. If market consolidation is too wide or tall (greater than 2.0x ATR), the required structural stop distance creates an unfavorable risk-to-reward ratio. When this occurs, the indicator displays BLOCKED, keeping you out of high-risk choppy markets.

Do the box levels and breakout signals repaint?

No. Fractal high and low boundaries lock into place once the required lookback confirmation bars have closed. Setup Ready and breakout alerts evaluate strictly on candle close — once confirmed, the signal marker never repaints or shifts.

Where should my initial stop loss be placed on a box setup?

In standard AIMS trade management, your initial structural invalidation stop loss is pinned just beyond the opposite boundary of the fractal box (for a buy setup, place the stop just below the lower box level; for a sell setup, just above the upper box level).
