# AIMS Wave: Automated Elliott Wave Counter

AIMS Wave provides cycle context through its published count, phase and associated chart information. Use those reads to review trend maturity alongside price and momentum; they do not establish a future outcome.

## What You See on the Chart[](#what-you-see-on-the-chart "Direct link to What You See on the Chart")

This designed example illustrates an earlier rise, a pullback and a later price high with a smaller scripted AO value. Its 3/4/5 references are manual teaching labels, not output from the Wave count engine.

#### What was known

1. **After candle 3:**

Price reaches 65. The largest available scripted AO value is 8. No later comparison is possible yet.
2. **After candle 5:**

Two pullback candles and smaller scripted AO values are available. A later high is not known.
3. **After candle 8:**

Price reaches 72 while scripted AO is 4, smaller than the earlier 8. This manual comparison is not verified indicator output.

Candles: blue closes at or above the open; red closes below the open.

Price reaches 72 while scripted AO is 4, smaller than the earlier 8. This manual comparison is not verified indicator output.

A higher price extreme with a smaller AO value is a comparison to review. It does not establish exhaustion, a reversal, a target or a profitable trade.

## Visual Chart Elements[](#visual-chart-elements "Direct link to Visual Chart Elements")

* **Wave labels and phase:** read the indicator's published count. A schematic is not an alternative count.
* **AO histogram:** compare momentum values with price structure; the lesson's values are scripted.
* **Guide lines:** structural references where the product displays them.
* **Target zones:** projections to review, not guarantees of a price destination.

## How to read the cycle[](#how-to-read-the-cycle "Direct link to How to read the cycle")

1. Check whether the Wave tab has a current count and phase.
2. Compare the relevant price extremes with the momentum histogram.
3. Separate an earlier impulse, a pullback and a later push. Do not label every small pullback as a verified Wave 4.
4. Read the combined assessment and your plan. A later phase or divergence does not guarantee exhaustion or reversal.

During replay, an earlier stage contains only the information available then. A later price high must not rewrite the earlier momentum comparison.

## Essential User Settings[](#settings-overview "Direct link to Essential User Settings")

Use the [MT5 Wave settings reference](/indicators/aims-wave/docs/mt5/settings.md) for the installed version. The lesson does not calculate a count, target or alert.

## Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting[](#troubleshooting "Direct link to Frequently Asked Questions & Troubleshooting")

### What should I do when Wave 5 completes?[](#what-should-i-do-when-wave-5-completes "Direct link to What should I do when Wave 5 completes?")

Review the actual phase, targets, structure and your existing plan. A Wave label alone does not mandate an exit or a new trade, and a later push may continue.

### Why does the schematic differ from my chart?[](#why-does-the-schematic-differ-from-my-chart "Direct link to Why does the schematic differ from my chart?")

Its candles, AO values and labels are designed to isolate one comparison. Your chart uses market data and the indicator's remembered count; the schematic cannot validate that count.
