Signal Configuration

Signal configuration controls which BananaEA setups are allowed to become trade candidates.

These settings do not predict the future. They only control what the EA is allowed to process.

Pattern Toggles

Your version may include inputs for multiple buy and sell pattern types.

Use these toggles to:

  • Enable a pattern type.
  • Disable a pattern type.
  • Test one group of signals at a time.
  • Reduce chart or trade activity while learning.

Do not enable every option just because it is available. Start simple.

Entry Buffers

Entry buffer settings add distance around the signal candle before an order is placed.

Common purpose:

  • Avoid placing an order exactly on the signal candle high or low.
  • Give the setup a small confirmation distance.
  • Adjust for broker spread and symbol behavior.

Changing buffer values can change both trade frequency and entry price. Test changes before live use.

Stop Loss Buffers

Stop loss buffer settings add distance around the signal candle when calculating stop placement.

Common purpose:

  • Avoid a stop being placed exactly on the signal candle high or low.
  • Allow a small margin around candle extremes.

Larger buffers can increase risk per trade unless lot sizing is adjusted correctly.

External Indicator Mode

If supported, BananaEA can read buy or sell values from another indicator.

Before using this mode:

  1. Confirm the external indicator works on the chart.
  2. Confirm the correct buffer numbers.
  3. Confirm which buffer is buy and which is sell.
  4. Test on a demo account or in Strategy Tester.

Practical Setup

For a first test:

  1. Use a known preset or default signal setup.
  2. Enable only the signal types required by that setup.
  3. Keep entry and stop buffers unchanged.
  4. Run Strategy Tester.
  5. Review the Experts tab for any rejection messages.

Common Problems

No trades:

  • Signal toggles are off.
  • Spread filter blocks entries.
  • Trading hours block entries.
  • Risk settings produce an invalid lot size.
  • External indicator buffer settings are wrong.

Too many trades:

  • Too many pattern types are enabled.
  • Filters are too loose.
  • Multiple charts are using overlapping settings.
