How Confluence Works

The Confluence Indicator is the alignment layer in the iTradeAIMS MT5 suite. It answers a different question than Box, Wave, or Banana alone:

Given what each connected indicator reports on completed structure, do setup, wave, and trend forces actually align — and how much should you trust the read?

This page describes the customer-facing model. For install and dashboard mechanics, start at Get started.

Each indicator stands on its own

Connected AIMS indicators do not reason about each other internally. Each product:

  1. Runs on your chart (when attached and licensed).
  2. Publishes machine-readable facts — direction, lifecycle, wave stage, box state, banana signal state, and similar fields.
  3. Exposes its own tab or chart visuals in the iTradeAIMS Dashboard.

Confluence is the sole layer that fuses those facts into interpreted output on the chart and in confluence sections.

Do not confuse products
  • iTradeAIMS Dashboard = the GUI shell (tabs, license, settings).
  • Confluence Indicator = the product that computes and displays combined confluence reads.

Three principles

1. Bus reads, not parallel guesses

Confluence consumes facts from connected products. It does not re-implement Box logic inside Banana or Wave logic inside Box. If a product is missing or not attached, confluence shows WAIT with a reason — it does not silently hide the section.

2. One orchestrator

Cross-layer rules live in Confluence only — for example:

  • Setup-at-extension caution when reward to the next wave target is limited.
  • Wave-biased breakout context when box and wave direction agree.
  • Banana trend synergy when pullback facts support or contradict the box + wave story.

Individual indicators stay focused on their own domain.

3. Evidence hierarchy

When confluence evaluates a moment on the chart, it weights evidence in this order:

  1. Completed price structure (especially wave stage and confirmed box lifecycle).
  2. Box lifecycle — Setup 1 ready, closed break, blocked by filters or height.
  3. Momentum and filters — Gator, Purple, ATR box height, Banana validity, Bubble timing when attached.

Momentum and filters confirm or downgrade a read. They do not replace missing structure.

Completed bars

Confluence lifecycle states use completed structure, not the forming bar alone. A setup can look active on bar zero while confluence still reports ARMED or WAIT until the relevant structure closes.

What confluence adds on top of Box

AIMS Box (Setup Indicator) can show Setup 1 · READY with trade reference lines. That is a component-level fact.

Setup 1 Confluence asks whether wave context, box quality, direction match, breakout memory, and optional Banana/Bubble reads support that setup — and assigns a quality tier (HIGH, CAUTION, AVOID, UNKNOWN).

A high-quality moment in method terms is often: Box Setup 1 is genuine and Confluence agrees — not merely that one tab turned green.

Confluence output surfaces

SurfaceWhat it combines
Setup 1 ConfluenceAIMS Wave structure + AIMS Box Setup 1 lifecycle — compression, direction match, box quality, breakout memory
Banana ConfluenceBanana or Seed pullback facts vs wave stage and box story — continuation, add-on, or still waiting
Wave contextStage, room to target, counter-wave risk (also on Wave tab)
Bubble / regimeOptional timing layer when AIMS Bubble is attached and configured
Opt-in alertsOff by default; notify on selected ARMED → TRIGGERED transitions

Relationship to the Trading System

iTradeAIMS offers two paths:

Confluence is an AIMS Tool. It pairs with the method or can be used as a standalone alignment layer — but it never removes your obligation to review risk, spread, news, and position size.

Learn the component layers

Confluence docs own orchestration and combined reads. Component behavior is documented separately:

Risk notice

Confluence is not an auto-trader. TRIGGERED and HIGH describe interpreted alignment on completed structure — not a command to enter, size, or hold a position.
