VPS Installation Guide

A VPS is a remote Windows computer that can keep MT4 running when your own computer is off. This page explains the technical setup considerations for using BananaEA on a VPS.

Using a VPS does not guarantee better trading results. It only helps with platform uptime and access.

When A VPS May Be Useful

A VPS may be useful if:

  • you want MT4 to remain open continuously
  • your home internet or power is unreliable
  • you need to access the platform remotely
  • your broker or account rules require more consistent platform uptime

A VPS is not required for learning, demo testing, or occasional manual testing.

Minimum Practical Requirements

Check that the VPS has:

  • Windows Server or Windows desktop access
  • enough RAM to run MT4 comfortably
  • enough disk space for MT4, logs, and historical data
  • Remote Desktop access
  • stable internet connection
  • location reasonably close to your broker server where possible

The exact specification depends on how many MT4 terminals and charts you run.

Install MT4 On The VPS

  1. Connect to the VPS using Remote Desktop.
  2. Download MT4 from your broker.
  3. Install MT4.
  4. Log in to the correct trading or demo account.
  5. Confirm that prices update normally.
  6. Open File > Open Data Folder so you know the correct MT4 data path.

Install BananaEA

Use the normal installation steps:

  1. Download the official BananaEA installer or file from your member area, email, or support team.
  2. Install BananaEA into the MT4 data folder for the terminal running on the VPS.
  3. Restart MT4 or refresh Navigator.
  4. Attach BananaEA to a chart.
  5. Enter any required license or access details.
  6. Confirm the Experts and Journal tabs do not show setup errors.

VPS Checklist

Before leaving the VPS unattended, check:

  • MT4 is logged in.
  • AutoTrading is in the intended state.
  • BananaEA is attached to the intended chart.
  • The correct symbol and timeframe are open.
  • Risk settings have been reviewed.
  • Stop loss and take profit behavior has been tested.
  • The VPS clock and broker server time are understood.
  • Windows updates will not restart the VPS unexpectedly during trading hours.
  • Remote Desktop disconnecting does not close MT4.

Common Issues

MT4 Closes When I Disconnect

Make sure you are disconnecting from Remote Desktop, not logging out of Windows.

EA Is Missing After Installation

Check that you installed into the data folder for the MT4 terminal on the VPS, not the data folder on your local computer.

License Error

Check internet access, license entry, and whether the account or terminal is allowed by your license rules.

Slow Platform

Reduce the number of open charts, indicators, and terminals. If the VPS is still slow, review CPU, RAM, and disk usage.
